Biography
Dr. Barry Nadel was born in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up in San Jose, California. His early studies began in archaeology and anthropology before he moved into enology and viticulture at UC Davis, where he earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in grape genetics.
After making aliyah to Israel, he pursued plant genetics at Hebrew University in Rehovot and completed his Ph.D. in 1981. His scientific work included plant biotechnology, physiology, vegetable seed breeding, seed stock maintenance, and seed production through Agecotec, the company he founded with his family.
His life in Israel also included military service during the First Lebanon War, years in army reserves, and volunteer service with the Border Police. In 2002, he married Hadassah, whose love and passing became a profound spiritual turning point and a driving force behind the Hoshiyan Chronicles.
Dr. Nadel has written scientific, nonfiction, and fiction work for decades. The Hoshiyan Chronicles, first published as a project in 2013, brings together spiritual struggle, justice, righteousness, faith, and the long search for moral courage.
